A book offers many benefits for the author, including credibility, profile, and connection, as well as opening doors.

Many books are written by ghostwriters—professional authors who are paid to write books which are then credited to another person. As far as the reading public will know, the person named on the book cover is the author: the writer is an unseen ghost.
